We have high standards at burt & gurt's, and will only purchase all-natural or certified organic butters, oils, spices, clays and essential oils for our recipes. Our products will never include "Fragrance" or "micas". Our products colors and scents come naturally from our ingredients.
It's very important to us that only the purest ingredients are used in creating our products.
We sustainably source our ingredients globally
and handcraft them with love in Napa Valley, CA.

OUR PROCESS
​
We use the Cold-Process Method of soap making that dates back to 2800 B.C.. Early soap makers used animal fats and oils combined with ash or salt to create soap. Today we use lye (Sodium Hydroxide) and the saponification process. Saponification is the chemical reaction in which plant based fats and oils (triglycerides) react to lye to form soap. To complete the process the bars will cure (dry and harden) for 3-4 weeks before bars are ready for sale.
